I'm looking to order my second kit.

First of all, my first batch (of Coopers English Bitter) went pretty well, so thanks to the the guys on the forum who gave me advice.

I'm a fan of beers like Tim Taylor's Landlord. What type of kit do you chaps reckon I should try next (and any recommendations on specific kits)? I've been looking at kits for IPAs and golden ales, but nothing stands out...

Landlord's a cracking beer and, for me at least, the standout flavours come from the hops (styrian goldings) and their yeast strain. I'm know very little about kits but there are people here who tweak kits by adding hop teas or similar I think who will be able to advise better than me. Also, if and when you feel ready you can replace the yeast that comes with the kit by a liquid yeast strain or a slant and with a little bit of careful handling get a better quality beer in your glass. It's more work to do but worth doing, if not immediately, then maybe when you have a few brews under your belt.

It won't be landlord by doing this but with a little bit of advice and help you may be able to get something broadly similar.

Good luck!

Thanks for this - the hop tea sounds like a good idea.

I think I'm going to go for something from the Brupaks range, both because it's the right part of the country, and they come with a sachet of hops... My guts are telling me to go for the Colne Valley Bitter.

I've done 2 of their Linthwaite Light kits , they're very good.

I had the last of my batch of Coopers Australian Pale Ale last weekend. This was after being in the bottle for about 7 months.

It was really very enjoyable. I do however find that this one is quite crisp and clear and enjoyed at a slightly lower temp.

PS, Use the Coopers Brew Enhancer II with this one for excellent results !
