Hi All

Can anyone recommend a good pale ale kit . I have read the reviews and the 1 can kits seem a little on the thin side whilst the two can kits seem overly dark

The larder is looking a little empty :hmm: so brewing something that doesn't take months to mature would be good

Any advice very very welcome

The Coopers Australian PA, made with 500g pale malt extract and 500g brewing sugar comes out very nicely. Should be ready to drink in around 6-8 weeks (2 weeks fermenting, 4-6 weeks in the bottle).

Failing that, you could do an extract brew if you have a big pot. The Malt Miller sells 3kg of pale malt extract for £15ish, hops are around £3, yeast £2. Just dissolve the malt in water and boil with the hops, then strain into your bucket and ferment as normal.

Shipping is around £7 though, so it's probably worth buying two lots of malt as you can re-use the yeast and you should have enough hops for 2 brews - this will cost you £42 for 2 brews (£21 each, so not really any different to a 2-can).
