Just taken delivery from The Malt Miller of a half inch hose tail as I'm replacing the tap on my cheapy boiler.
Its very nice but the packaging was a little over the top I think. Its a solid stainless steel fitting hardly likely to get damaged in the first class post. So why wrap it in 5 feet x 6 inch of bubble wrap sealed with thick parcel tape ! Took me ages to unwrap it!
Must have worked, it was undamaged ! :D

An apprentice at work asked me what he should do with a 6 foot roll of bubble wrap, I said "just pop it in the corner"

He came back 6 hours later , "can I stop now my fingers are bleeding!" ;)

Doh !

Doh !

My tap and the hose barb don't connect ...... Doh ! Doh !

are they easily available from B&Q ? If so I can get one, what do I ask for

Better off with proper pipe fitting supplies
DIY places will be useless .
Try bes on tinternet
You want 1/2 bsp barrel it's female fitting as you screw into it where as your hosetail
Is male as you screw it on ;-)

304 or 316L stainless steel .

Won't be cheap though :-(

Hang on ! That's a 15 mm compression on the isolating valve ?

Is this for a mash tub or boiler ?
You can buy hose tails female that will fit on that!
May be lucky with a wickes ? Take it with you though .
Sorry for confusion I didn't look at photo properly ;-)

sorry I lost a post somewhere !

Its all to replace the present tap on my tea urn type boiler. I want to end up the a half inch bazooka screen ( waiting its arrival ) fitting onto a half inch s/s bulk head fitting (from Vossey eventually.) Through the boiler wall with this tap and hose barb on the outside I think I've gone about it wrong way as I will need some connectors to fit baz screen to bulk head, bulk head to tap, and tap to bayonet. There must have been an easier way....

thank you again, Ill get the false bottom wrapped with a bit of tubing to lift it a bit off the mash tun bottom too.
