So as I sit in the Red Lion shirking work, my mind turns to considering the packaging permutations for my first (chocolate) stout. Probs will come out around 4.8%. Options/ thoughts as follows:

1. 40 plus pint bottles. Obviously usual cons associated with bottling day but may be one of those beers that you just want to stick a couple of crates in shed for a few months.

2. First 15 litres in 3 minikegs and bottle the rest. Am i going to want to sup 9 pints of the stuff in the 3 days or so before keg spoils? Is mini keg a good vessel for stout?

3. Pressure barrel - presume similar carb level to best bitter would deliver ok pint.

4. Cornie and use regular flow control tap

5. Sod it mate you're on your 3rd pint get online and order a tank of nitro, regulator and tap...at the end of the day they are an investment.

Any forumite tips on packaging stout

Cheers

Bottles for sure, stout seems to age very well. I’ve had some stored in the beer fridge for 3 years plus...it was yummy.

Nitro is also awesome and well worth the investment.
