Ive got a fair bit of this hop and wonder whether I can make a 10L Smash with it.
Actually stoopid question...of couse I can! Anyone tried it and do you think it will work as a stand alone hop??

Read up on a few for a smash before with it. A few said lower levels of hops made it turn out more like a saison because of the peppery notes. But higher levels brought out the blackberry more. If you like saison why not give it a try with a pilsner malt, or if you don't give it a try with something like golden promise and more hops. Might bring out the blackberry more with the sweeter malt.

Indeed, I was thinking of using some golden promise, or maybe some darker malt and maybe dry hop with chinook or amarillo...work in progress! Thanks for the advice.

My daughter lent me a homebrew book which was pretty dire but it had one recipe in it that caught my eye and which I was thinking of making next time I have to order stuff:

2.5kg pale malt
900g munich
226g biscuit malt
113g wheat malt

28g pacific jade 60 mins
14g pacific jade 15 mins
14g pacific jade 0 mins

This is for a 23 litre brew.
Sounds good to me.

Cheers thanks for that, I can adjust for 10L. Let us know how yours goes!

I think there was some Pacific jade in the Youngs American Amber Ale kit dry hope, that was nice.. but it was of course a blend
Ive just used some with some Amarillo, Chinook and Columbus in an IPA which is in the fermenter - expensive brew that one

Just tried my Pacific Jade Smash which has only been in the bottle a week. The verdict is that it needs a lot longer to mature but the taste is very very good. Nice hop to use without a doubt. Used 28 gms in 10L brew, if anyone is interested.
