Hi guys I am thinking of doing a hefeweizen this is the recipe.
Crisp Pale Wheat Malt (2000 grams)
Crisp Maris Otter (1800 grams)
Crisp Munich Malt (130 grams)
Hallertauer Hersbrucker Pellet (25 grams)
Mangrove Jacks Bavarian Wheat Yeast M20 (1 packs)
I wanted to add some orange peel but I am not sure if I need the bitter one or the sweet one ?
Thankyou

Personally I'd leave out the orange in a hefe, simple is best in my view. Let the yeast do it's thing and take centre stage 👍

+1 for this. Hefeweisen is a great style. Done right and you're onto a winner. I'd swap the Maris for Pils, and if you can get something like WLP300 fermented warm and it'll be packed with Banana esters.

This. Orange peel is for witbier’s where it complements the fruitiness and slight tang of the yeast. In a hefeweizen the yeast is the star of the show.

Ok brilliant thanks for the advice will still stick to the recipe and probably change out Maris as I have some spare pils. Definitely after the banana flavour so will also swap it the yeast . Thanks
