Hi all
I've read previously that a couple of members use their malt basket/tube (call it what you will) as a hop spider when using pellets in the boil.
I'll be getting my trusty old Ace back in service soon and was wondering if those members still use it to filter pellets? I presume that the filter plates on the Ace have the same mesh as the other similar machines?
I do have a dedicated hop spider but if the basket/tube thing really is as effective as I've read then I'll give it a go. Don't want to risk it on my 1st "proper" brew in while.
So over to you, is it as effective as I hope it might be?
Cheers and thanks. Tom
