Hi, Do any of you good people know if it's possible to get spare bottle tops for the old Rosie 2 litre cider jacks.
I would say there is a good chance. There is a market in plastic screw caps, I have bought several recently. If you google "plastic bottle closure" or something similar, you will get a number of hits, or search on Ebay.
You will need to measure the outside thread diameter. If you have a wine bottle cap you can try it for fit, I seem to recall that the Rosie ones are quite a small size, and wine bottle size caps are easy to find and buy.
I've wondered about them for fermenting, but I don't fancy getting an airlock in the neck. However, if I can get a re-usable closure (not aluminium), then I might reconsider them for storage.
The downside is that you will have to drink the contents (6.8% IIRC), but sometimes sacrifices must be made.

Note that screw top sizes for plastic bottles and glass bottles do not seem to be interchangeable, so make sure you get some for a glass bottle.

To follow up, I eventually managed to get a 2l Rosies (Tesco were sold out, I got Morrison's last one). The original cap was actually faulty and wouldn't go back on, but I had some of the size be;low and they fit perfectly. Mine are for a pourer bottle that I use for apple cider vinegar, but the same size (31.5mm x 24mm)

Keep an eye on p&p costs as the bottle suppliers seem to assume that you are buying glass and their default charges are steep. Maybe phone an order, if you decide to go ahead, and discuss postage.
