For my next brew I'd like to make an oatmeal stout. Not having a local brew shop nearby I wondered if I could use natural oatmeal from the supermarkets instead of having to buy some online from a dedicated home brew shop. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Cheers

I just use rolled oats from the local supermarket . . .toasting them to a lovely golden brown before use though

up to 45 minutes at 130C . . . until a golden brown . . . if they go black they do tend to smell a bit . . . . . . . Do it the night before brewing

Great, thanks Aleman. Then I just mix them with the other grains in the mash, right?
