Hi all

I am of to Nottingham this Friday for a stag and I was wondering if anyone recommend any good real ale pubs in the city center, I have the real ale guide but I suspect I won’t have much time to explore and I am also look for any suggestions for pubs that will cater for the general lager drinks but may also serve real ale as well

Any suggestion would be of great help

ON the market Square(center of the city center) Is a great pub called The Bell, when I was last there the where a couple of milds on and cider on, plus all the usual mix of pales and bitters.

On Maid Marion Way theres The Salutation

Bottom of Hockley, behind the ice rink there is Bunker hill

And not forgeting britains oldest pub, The Trype to Jerusalem. Now part of the GK empire but worth a nosey. by the castle.

The above pubs you will get a great pint and great atmosphere. There are other great pubs just a bit further out, but these will fit the OB bill I think. There may be others, but I am rarely in Nottingham so I am not current on other places.
Local beers from the brewer castle rock are worth seeking out, Harvest Pale and Hemlock spring to mind.

and this is the local camra guide if it helps:

Thanks for the suggestion, got to visit the bell and really enjoyed the green king mild, The Royal Children was not to bad, Keans head had a great range of castle rock ales and The Globe had a great range of ales including Holdens mild.
