Hey all

I put an extract (with grains) brew in the fermenter just over 24 hours ago and for the first time used a liquid yeast, I didnt do a starter just chucked it in. The thing is after over 24 hours there isnt any movement in the airlock, maybe the liquid yeast was a dud... tomorrow im considering pitching a dry yeast if there is no change but my question is should I re-airate or is it too late for that and I will put oxygen at too late a stage?

OG 1.050 & fermenting temp 19c

Cheers!

is the fermenter airtight?

What type of fermenter is it? is it a bucket with airlock, or a closed one with a 4" cap - i find from time to time that I get the same, but the bung and "o" ring in the closed fermenter need a smear of vaseline.

I'd consider this before chucking in more yeast.
