Just to prove that I am striving for all s/s shininess here's a picture of my nearly completed HLT with newly installed thermocouple sleeve. The threaded mounting is a standard 3/4 -1/2 BSP reducing bush with original tapered threads turned to parallel. Two 1" silicon O rings create the seal and the 3/4" back nut has been recessed to provide a good face. The 60l tank was holecut to 1" dia and gives a good fit to the 3/4"BSP thread. All sharp edges were dressed using a Dremel. I've water tested and have no leaks.

The thermo sleeve is to the bottom of the picture with the other probe being the thermometer.

I'm not fitting a sight glass but have a Drinkbrook Extrocount, which is calibrated in litres, in the line out to gauge water supply. It's been tried out and seems to work.

The tank exterior is clad with a foil backed camping mat.

More to follow as things develop.

Hi Frisp, I got the thermowell from the RS catalogue but you could possibly find cheaper elsewhere. The s/s fittings came from Crossling at Newcastle who deliver in the North East and the silicone O rings were supplied by www.altecweb.com . A mate of mine did the machining and said they didn't like to stay in the chuck.

Hope this helps. :)
