Posting this incase anyone can think of any good steps to debug my nitro set up as it’s not working as expected and I’m a n00b to it.
So I got a mixed gas reg and a stout faucet over Xmas and got a 70/30 bottle from my gas supplier and connected it all. I had planned for this by brewing a chocolate porter and spunding at around 5 psi for a week or so after fermentation and then transferred to a keg and left connected to 70/30 at 35psi for 1 week.
After plumbing in the nitro line and changing taps I poured my first beer and whilst it wasn’t quite ‘like Guinness’ with the full body and cascading bubbles etc it was a good way along the way.
Ever since that first pour, whenever I go to take a new sample there’s hardly any life. It’s just like a relatively flat cask ale. It’s not unpleasant but it’s not the ‘nitro’ experience that I bothered to upgrade for.
I should note I’ve been increasing the psi slightly and it’s been sat on just under 40psi now for a week or so and I tested last night and was still the same.
Do I need to
* just wait longer
* do something else?
I’m questioning if it needs more co2 or something, I thought maybe there was a leak somewhere but checked and doesn’t seem to be. A bit lost so any advice welcome
