Hello peeps,

Started my first Coopers beer kit on the 10th. Mixed it all up but the other half said i had to move it. I did and the only place i had to put it where it could keep a reasonable temperature (18c during the day and 16c at night) was in our downstairs bedroom by the window. It's seemed to be brewing fine but just checked today, so 6 days on and it still not at the target FG level. I have smelled the beer and it's all fine but there is quite a sediment at the bottom. Is this normal?

Or is it possible a combination of moving it and temperature killed the yeast in it?

It did have quite a good layer of bubbling yeast on the top for 3 days prior to removing the kraeusen collar :hmm:

Any suggestions welcome.

Chuck

What is its gravity now. It may well be going a bit slow because of the temp, but it is better to ferment cool than to warm. It should ferment ok at 18 and in anycase it is the temp of the beer not the ambient temp.

Can you see any little bubbles at all and is it still cloudy? It may be worth giving it a gentle stir to rouse the yeast. You could also try wrapping it in a duvet or sleeping bag if the beer is below 18c.
