Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum.
I've been married to a Danish lass for 35 years now, and lived lots of places, but 4 years ago she twisted my arm, and here we are back in Denmark again. Now I can put up with all sorts living abroad, but one thing I will not sacrifice is a drop of decent ale. Seeing how I don't like traditional Danish lagers, I decided in 2007 to start brewing my own pale ale, and I've been very happy with it, and I must say, you can make a very fine drink using the right syrup.
You must all know that John Bull went bust, and so I bought a batch of Cooper's Amber malt recently, as Munton's was too pricey in my mind. Unfortunately, I find Coopers syrup not up to the same standard as Muntons and John Bull, and anyway, I'm a bit of a GREENY, and don't like my beer ingredients being carted half way round the world.
So now I'm into full mashing, and I have to say, I would have done it a few years ago if I had the time. But now I have just retired, and become a full-time loafer, apart from growing a heap of vegetables in my garden.
By the way, my missus was damned awkward about it when I started brewing myself, and she thought she could bully me into just sipping red wine with her twice a week. You'll be pleased to hear I'm having none of it, and she's resigned herself to me drinking what I like and when I like, which is basically 2 pints of my lovely pale ale a day.
Cheers :drink:
