I thought it best to introduce myself. I'm Paul, nickname Wardy.
I used to brew wine and did so between 1990 and 1998 when I lived in Barnsley; over that time I learned to produce some good reds with blackberry and elderberry but although everyone loved my whites they were too thick due to the hard water in Yorkshire.
I moved to Scotland in 2003 and started brewing again in 2006 but due to the softer water here all my recipes produced great whites and thin reds and that is when I realised water wasn't just water and my last batch of wine was in 2008.
It was odd that I produced wine because I don't much like wine, I'm a beer drinker, but when I had a go at beer using a kit it was a bad experience even though I followed the instructions to the letter.
I recently found out about all grain brewing and I know that is what i must do so after reading in depth about the process I'm going to build a micro brewery in the shed and start having some real fun. :drink:

This is the place for any questions/advice - from 10 pint brews to commercial setups. Welcome to this, our band of brewers!

Thanks guys, I'm planning 10 gallon batches and will probably be up and running by September after I've bought and modified equipment. No doubt I'll have many questions once I start building the micro brewery and starting the first batches.
