Hi all,

First post from me.

Has anybody used the new 'haze' yeast from crossmyloof? I've tried their ale and US pale yeast previously but didn't like the results too much. Interested to hear anybody's results with this new yeast.
 
Nope. Is this in their new Beirm range? I currently have the new Hell one on. Pretty sure it is Saflager S-23 based on the stats. Look forward to hearing how you get on with the Haze.
 
No. I would say though that I've used a lot of CML yeasts and while they've all started and finished and made good beer the only issue I've had is poor flocculation.
I've got a kolsch on now with CML but changed my usual CML real ale for Wilko Gervin for a recent porter which went well and I could Syphon virtually everything from the fv.

They have a new range of "premium" yeasts now. Much like you, I've had mixed results with their other yeasts.

That’s right. Interested to see how it comes out. Going to try a small batch initially and see how it comes out. Will report back
 
That’s right - premium - we’ll see I guess. Just putting feelers out in case it was one to avoid.

I dare say it'll be very good. They are hardworking honest guys who really give a damn about providing good and different products. Going by the name, I'm guessing that Haze will be an English yeast that will give you nice stone fruit esters for NEIPA styles.

I've bought some today. I've switched to their yeasts almost exclusively about two years ago - I'm a big fan of their product and service and am keen to see how this yeast turns out in a NEIPA this weekend if I can get my arse into gear
 
I've just done a brew using this yeast. I'm new to this whole homebrew thing so this was my first foray away from US-05. I was quite happy with it though, and true to the name it produced a nice hazy beer. This bottle wasn't ready yet (i was too keen) but still showed promise. Here's a photo:

Looks good! Initial thoughts on yeast characteristics? More hop of malt forward?

This bottle was slightly oxidised too which stripped back quite a bit of the hoppiness but I'd say it wasn't malt forward. Gonna pop another bottle tonight and hopefully that one will be better. I'll give an update.

In terms of the yeast itself, flocculation was alright. Not as good as US-05 but perhaps that's just a requirement when producing a hazier yeast?

Seemed to ferment about the same rate as US-05. It was at FG at about 5 days at which point I dry hopped straight into the carboy.
 
So, this bottle was a lot better. Nice fruity favours but not quite sure they're yeast driven. Good balance between hoppiness and maltiness. I'd definitely use it again and would be interested in seeing how it copes with a NEIPA style beer. I'm planning a single hop Apollo DDH pale ale which I'll probably use the other half of the packet for. #murkbomb

Thanks for the update! I’ll definitely get a brew on the go in the next few days.
 
So brewed yesterday. All pale malts, early tomahawk addition for a little bitterness, azacca, ekuanot and mosaic flameout additions. Pitched yeast about 5pm and nothing started yet so if it’s like my experience of a US05 style yeast it’s usually after 24 hours before a krausen kicks off and a bit after until more aggressive fermentation. Starting gravity was 1.051.
