Hi,

I started brewing about two years ago with a starter kit.
The beer was called Grand Cru and the result wasn't bad at all.
Tried a beer called wheat beer afterwards and I hope something went wrong, because it tasted terrible.
This kinda killed the mood and I stopped.

I visit a "special beer bar" quite often and this made me decide to start brewing beer again.
The first thing I decided was not to use those fully prepared cans anymore where you only had to add sugar, yeast and water.
So I have been looking for a good and easy recipe to start with. Since I enjoyed the Crabbies ginger beer so much I started looking for recipes.
Googling ginger beer recipes brought me to this website. I found the fiery ginger beer recipe and this will probably be my first brew.
I don't think this is a Crabbies ginger beer clone, but I think it will be good.

Also the Wurzel's orange wine sounded very interesting and this might be my second brew.
I think that I first want to see some succes with the ginger beer.
I also have a question about the brewing of the Orange Wine:
everybody is brewing this in 1 gallon DJ's or other sizes.
The only fermentation tank i have is a 30L plastic one, will this work just as good?
I read that the tank needs to be fully filled and i don't want to make more than 10L of this Wurzel's Orange wine.
Anyway my name is Lars and I hope to get some brewing information here and I will certainly share my results.
Cheers

Welcome Lars. Rather than go for fiery Ginger Beer I would go for a 2 can kit such as Woodfords Wherry etc. No added sugar and a good brew. WOW is good but I prefer mixing it up a bit. I make it in 25lt batches with 2 apple juice added to 1 orange and 2 pineapple or grapefruit plus 5 white grape juice. Ferment to dry and then leave it alone of a month at least.

welcome to the forum. As has been said. you can't go wrong with the woodforde's Wheery beer kit. Just add water and, in a few weeks, enjoy the beer. The WOW's are very good. I'd buy a couple of demi johns.

I've just started a ginger beer off. It smelt lovely whilst in the pot and the initial taste before fermentation was pretty good. I'm not a fan of ginger beer but am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Welcome to the forum

You could always use a 5l water bottle with a hole in the lid for an airlock to make WOW :thumb:
