Has anyone tried to make Innes and Gunn (original not the rum cask stuff)? I am trying to keep it easy - I am new to beer brewing, so want to use a kit. Was thinking of using a decent pale ale kit and adding oak chippings used in winemaking, after fermentation, letting it soak for a few days and straining them back out. Has anyone tried to make this before?

I like Innes and Gunn - But i have not seen any sort of recipe that is similar or that you could use to replicate the slight wood/whiskey taste.

Would boiling/fermenting wood chips work? I dont know as i have never used them.

Never tried it but a lot of American brewers suggest soaking oak chips in whisky and then putting them in a secondary.

There was this thread back in the summer which may be of use. I posted some links to american sites in it I think.

clicky
