Thanks again to all who replied to my introduction and thanks also for the tips.

I'm now well on the way with my first ever brew, Woodfordes Wherry.

It was in the fermenting tub at about 20 degrees for 11 days. I then transferred it to the pressurised barrel (adding a little sugar) and kept it in the warm for another 5 days. It has now been in the garage for 14 days.

I know I'm eager so last night I went to try a bit. The taste and flavour were very promising but the beer was still extremely cloudy, a bit like washing up water after the Sunday roast pans. Should it just clear with time and if so how long?

Also should it be ok to drink if it is cloudy?

Any tips greatly appreciated...

sounds like more time more clear
it takes in the bottle about 3 weeks to clear minimum
you may have chill haze if your garage is extremely cold
a brew i made gets it if i put it in the fridge but the beer is extremely drinkable
but at room temperature is clear as clear

One thing that you might want to try is using some gelatin to fine the beer. I use 1/2 packet of Knox gelatin in a cup of water. Heat it to 150F. Add it to the beer and gently mix with a sanitized spoon. Wait 2 or 3 days and it should be clear. If you get the beer really cold before you add the gelatin it will help strip out the chill haze proteins.
 
I don't think that's unusual with Wherry.......I've got one in the keg now, it was cloudy for about 10 days then started to clear noticeably every day.....now much clearer and tastes better too
Don't forget you're drawing it from the bottom, which will be the last bit to clear as the sediment falls
 
My experience with the Wherry is that it will take a while to clear and also a few weeks for it to taste really good. As already said, you are drawing the beer from the cloudiest part of the barrel so you just need patience. Get another brew on now!
