Having a go at a Roaring Meg type of brew mashing as I type recipie is

4Kg MO

30g Northdown 7.6AA full boil
12g Northdown 7.6AA last 15 mins

1pkt Nottingham yeast

Will post updates as I go and pics if camera charges in time.

Lovely evening for a brew, hope it goes well ni9e

Keep us posted :thumb:

Went well apart from forgetting to put the hop strainer on  So I used the hop sock that I got from craftbrewer to catch the hop bits that my usual sieve would have let through :thumb:

Seeing that the hopsock even held all the break stuff I poured the final 2-3 liters of wort plus the hops and gunk that are usually left in the boiler through the hopsock into a small bucket and it was all clear wort with no bits in it so I put it into the FV so had very little wastage

Will post the few piccys I took later.

hiya ni9e.

looking at your post you have the same set up as me. silly question but do you use the boiler for boiling the grain and hops? or do you use two seperate boilers.

Hi davesiv

I use the boiler for heating the water to add to the mashtun if thats what you mean you can see the mash tun behind the dog in the last piccy I then drain the mashtun into the boiler and when it boils I add the hops and boil for either 60 or 90 mins depending on the recipie.

I don't boil the grain in the boiler hope this helps
