The Mole Hole got a flypast the weekend before last, there was a 40s / wartime event on at the Severn Valley Railway.

We live right on the edge of town, less than a quarter of a mile from open countryside on 3 sides.

I heard a plane approaching, it got louder and louder and LOUDER so I dashed outside to see the Battle of Britain Lancaster perform a quarter mile radius wingtip turn centred on our house, altitude can't have been any more than 250ft, it was low and it was slow, I could see the pilot and almost count the rivets. The sound was just incredible.

It had obviously flown over the SVR once, come on just to the outskirts of town and turned for a return pass. Scared my daughter sh!tless.

you lucky git  That plane came into Coventrys Bagington airport last year for some work and I missed it both times :(

but I did see the last Vulcan bomber  and the two meteor fighters buzzed my house when they arrived for a celebration early this year

here in northants we get quite a lot of passing air traffic,
the red arrows, the vulcan,
and hurc's go over the house every few hours...
during the gulf war we had the b52's pass over the house every nite...

I saw the battle of britain memorial flight many years ago when manchester had two airshows. It flew low over a lake I was sailing on. Also saw a lightning fly about 100ft over the house and also saw the last Vulcan to fly (before being decomisioned) I was on top of a hill over looking the cheshire plain and saw two come into land at woodford nr stockport (i think where they were built)

I must see the BBMF Lancaster at least once a year and it never fails to thrill. Many years ago, sat on the top of a Blackpool Corporation bus, I saw what I thought was a Shackleton turning finals for Squires Gate airport. As it descended I saw it was actually a Lancaster, and I had the opportunity of a walk through shortly afterwards, that main spar does get in the way. I believe that this Lancaster is now at a Yorkshire Air Museum, and does taxi-ing runs, but is not airworthy. Haven't seen the last Vulcan but would love to do so. The Vulcan always used to be a favourite.

Took these at RAF Cosford Show a couple of years ago.

Unforgettable sound.

I've felt one of those take off from not very far away and go almost vertical, unforgettable sensation of thunder in your stomach.

The Airport at Kephalonia is very similar to the UTUBE clip Arty, you can sit on the beach and watch the planes whoosh almost taking the ladies bikini tops off

UP

A couple of years ago we went to Corfu on holiday and me and my brother in law hired motorcycles and went of on them for the day
On our travels we found a cafe in a little bay with a church over a short causeway
While we sat having a drink a small group of nuns and children started crossing to the church and half way across they suddenly started rushing across
We sat wondering why when there was a loud roar and a large passenger jet appeared above the trees and roared over our heads seems we were sitting at the end of the main runway  close enough to get the jet blast no wonder we were the only people sitting outside
