Hi,

I brewed my First batch 10 days ago using a Coopers Canadian Blonde ingredients kit. I mixed it with 1KG of coopers Brew enhancer and Half KG of full spraymalt wheat. The OG was 1.050 and has been at SP 1.013-1.014 for about the last 3 days.My query is.
1)Is this SP ok to be an FG or is it too high?
2)Will the bottles explode if I bottle it?
3)Or is it because I used Brew enhancer and spraymalt and not all the sugars in these products are fermentable and in fact an FG of between 1.013-1.014 is ok to bottle?

Sorry if that all sounds a bit confusing, first time brewers paranoia :)

Thanks

ancor

hi . the higher the Original gravity is the the Final gravity tends to be higher as well , this seems normal to me and if it has been steady as you say then you are ready to bottle, don't forget to prime the bottles with sugar so the yeast will convert the sugar to produce c02 (around 5g a litre ) then leave at room temp for around 2 weeks then cold store to allow the c02 to be absorbed :thumb:

Most of mine end up at about 1015. I would leave it a few more days at fermentation temp so that the yeast can clean up after itself and get rid of any diacetyl which can produce undesirable flavours (popcorn). After that leave it somewhere cool (garage with a concrete floor is good, concrete floors dissipate the heat very well) and bottle. If you have a spare fv syphon it carefully into that for the cooling bit as this will get it off the yeast and trub. Then once it is crystal clear bottle it.

Cheers for the help and advice guys, much appreciated.....I'm going to leave it until Sunday to bottle and I will be priming the bottles with carbonation drops. I have a mixture of 330ml and 500ml brown glass bottles,am I correct in thinking you put one carb drop per 330ml and 2 for a 500ml or is 2 too much for a 500ml bottle?
