Right, im new to all this all grain brewing stuff but i've gotta say im confused at all the stick muntons premium is getting. Mine fermented down in less than 36hrs -still left it a week incase ( was a light 1.045) so fast i thought it was broke till i checked the s.g, a respectable 1.015 at <48 hrs from pitching (from a 66.6 degree mash). however i will say my room temp way maybe a bit high (21 degrees max) and the container was at least 24 degress with all the action happening. it even tasted right from the hydrometer sample -like speckled hen (edworts pale ale subbed with munich and liberty hops). It may be fun to try and get this my first AG to clear (just added gelatin to the secondary as had some left in kitchen cuboard)

A word of warning though i think the instructions on the packets are the cause of the hit and miss nature of the yeast: i mixed it with 28 degree water not 38 (cos thats too hot) and for 4 mins (v max, cos by 15mins they will have starved), if in doubt just tip into fermentor if its cool enough.

All in all for 6g of yeast vs 11g of the posh stuff i'll stick with muntons for a quid and spend the savings on grain methinks
