So I am busy with my first Cider which I want to have ready for Christmas. I am doing the Muntons Premium Cider and I have had it on for 7 days. I pulled a sample for a SG and it's at 1.020 at the moment so still some time to go. What I wanted to ask is:

I am planning on syphoning it into my 2nd FV and batch priming it and then leaving it till about the 19th of December. Is this a realistic goal? Is there any advice that someone might have for this kit?

Many thanks in advance!

I'm afraid I've only done one cider kit (a Ritchies on the rocks pear one) and it took a very long time to condition.

It was excellent when it did (about 8 months...) so SWMBO tells me.

I don't know if the Muntons ones condition quicker but you might get fizzy clear cider by Christmas if it's nearly fermented out now, batch prime and bottle as soon as it's stopped primary and you stand a chance. :thumb:

Thanks for the advice. I batch primed but no carbonation and still hasn't cleared. But it tastes fantastic. Anyway I quite like a Scrumpy style cider.

Sorry to ask such a silly question but is it still in your 2nd FV? And under airlock?
It's just that's what it sounds like from your explanation.

Well the kit didn't turn out exactly as planned but I'm still happy with it. I have ended up with a nice dry cloudy Scrumpy. Very tasty.

You can always back-sweeten with normal (tea/coffee) sweeteners or Splenda if you'd prefer a sweeter tipple. I always keg my ciders dry, but my dear old mother makes a crude light syrup out of sweeteners and hot water and adds a teaspoon of this mixture to round it off to her tastes.
