I'm currently got a batch of Muntons Gold Imperial Stout on the go, but I am having trouble witht he FG. I took an initial reading of 1034 before I added the yeast (althought i'm not sure this was the best time)

It got stuck at 1020 so I gave it a good stir to get the yeast going again, but after another week its only at 1016...

.... i'm not sure where to go from here!! and desperately want to get right and if i'm doing it right it's only at 2.44%????

Help!

1034 sounds inordiately low for an Imperial Stout, for any kind of stout for that matter.

Your final gravity of 1016 fine - there will still be quite a lot of residual sugars in an Imperial Stout, so 1016 is no suprise.

I personally think you've made an error when reading the OG.
