Just Thought I would have a go at converting another fridge
So Stripped out the shelves and bottle holders stuff from the inner door. by the way the fridge is a Hotpoint Future RLA34 which is 150 litres no ice box its the silver coloured one in case you were curious :)
Because as i speak I only have 4 pressure barrels 2 are Kingkeg with the s30 fitting and Boots type with the standard fitting so 2 of each
I thought this model fridge surely could cope with both
How right I am! The task was to position the kingkeg on the bottom shelf which I obviously had put back in then mark above where to cut out the 60mm hole needed for the gas bottle which has to partially stick out of the top of the fridge small pilot hole then on with the hole cutter ( there are no cables or pipes to worry over if you do it as I have on this model ).
Then it was a case of taking off the inside light fitting seal the two wires against condensation I only used insulating tape I then tried it in position offered the hambleton gas cylinder from above Perfect fit :thumb:
Okay that is fine if you are using the Kingkeg what about if you want to use the other type? you will need to bung up the 60mm hole.
So here is what I did I simply used an empty plastic Youngs sterilising powder cannister I took the bung that had been created out of the hole cutter dropped it into the cannister put the lid on and gently forced it down from above until it was flush with the inside it made a really snug fit which is so easy to remove when needed. So Bobs your uncle and sally is your Aunt!!
So onto the Boots one remove the bottom shelf again this time you need to use something to create a shelf bearer that works to be about 185mm from the inside bottom of the fridge to do this myself I simply have used two empty plastic paint tins (from wilkinsons) that I had handy and sat them inside on the bottom in front of the compressor motor box and then I had two very large floor tiles offcuts that I had saved from when I had tiled my bathroom floor placed them on top of the paint tins again its perfect and also these tiles are getting really cool inside the fridge they seem to be what you could call a cold-plate as in the opposite to a hotplate
Oky it does not look very debonair, but lets face it the doors going to be shut so who cares :|
Oh you can still get a few bottles in it in this state as you will no doubt be able to with the other barrel in
So there you have it one Multi function " Barrelerator drinks fridge"
