Moving fermenting vessel?

Hello,

I have recently rediscovered home brew beer. I last did it years ago and never got much beyond kits but did advance to crown bottle caps, printed labels and some experiemts with fermenting apple juice.

I have just brewed a very successful Caxtons Dark Ale kit in a simple 30L plastic fermenter with tap and then bottled to recyled supermarket 2L plastic bottles. Now I've some dark stout on the go and in a fit of enthusiasm have ordered a second 30L bucket so I can increase 'production'. Becuase of kitchen arrangements I'll need to have the second brew behind the first bucket and then, once the first is bottled, move the second bucket across the table at some point so the tap is in a convenient place for bottling and then repeat. I hope that makes sense.

My question is, will it matter much if I move a formenting bucket across a table, no doubt sloshing the contents inside, washing some of the residure from the side of the bucket in to the brew?

Agree with all the above. The layout of my place means that I have to carry fermentors up and down sets of stairs. As long as it's done cautiously (be very careful to dry off glass containers - very slippery when wet!) it is not an issue. When moving them for racking or bottling, I always complete the move several hours before starting work, so that any disturbed sediment settles out.

I've done this, go for a careful slide
 
Just bare in mind that a litre of liquid will weigh about 1kg. So if you got 23l in the bucket it's quite heavy and very difficult to carry any distance.

Made the mistake during my first ever brew in a fermzilla to fill it on the ground floor when I needed it to be on the 2nd floor.
Those couple flights of stairs carrying that was somewhat frightening and exhausting. If I were to be left in the position where I had to do it again, I wouldn't unless it was in a sealed cube with a handle.

Thanks. In my case the fermenting bucket will be on top of a towell on a smooth wooden tabel. I'll only have to slide it a few feet. I wouldn't even consider carrying the thing upstairs!

I have the same problems, old victorian house, no room for anything.
I use a trolley dolly, bought it out of Lidl for £9.99, brilliant for moving my fermenters about, also for the G30. Available at Aldi reduced to £7.99, bargain.
Takes a lot of the strain off your back
