Hello all, new member and new cider brewer here. I've set my first batch up and it seems to be fermenting away happily. However I had a second batch of apple juice that has developed a layer of mould at the top before I could set it fermenting. The juice was pressed a couple of days ago and I have not added yeast or treated with campden tablets yet. I have no idea if this is a problem, or what I should do if it is. Can I siphon off the juice beneath or and still use it? Or do I even need to do anything and I'm panicking over nothing.

Welcome to the forum athumb..
My suggestion is syphon off from underneath and treat with campden tablets then get the yeast in as soon as it is possible.
Ps I am not a expert on cider using juice so mine is only a suggestion and more informed cider makers should be able to confirm if I have advised correctly but I would get the juice away from any possible organisms asap
