I've spoiled myself recently with very hoppy IPAs and Pale ales and wish to brew one of my own. I've tried a Better Brew IPA kit and haven't been blown away by it. I feel the most suitable kit I've used so far is the Wilko Golden Ale kit, which has some lovely lemony flavours which would make a good IPA if enhanced. I plan to add around 500 grams of beer enhancer to up the alcohol above 5% and hop it to hell with a hop tea and a dry hopping of East Kent Goldings. What sort of quantities of hops should I be looking at to get the desired effect?

Ive got the betterbrew Ipa on now, sorry to dissagree with you but I love it.I modify it with a muntons enhancer, fuggles hop tea(about 20-30g)ish,and a jar of honey.I then dry hop about 35g of cascade pellets.love it smooth and zesty.

A brewer in my local micro pub said you can't go far wrong with any of the American hops that start with C.
Citra is definitely a good one for IPA, as is Chinook, Cascade or Centennial. 20g infused should be ok for 23L. I dropped about that much into one of my last kits and it was great, but blocked the syphon, so from now on it's either hop-bags or tea infusions.
Good luck either way :-)

Being I noob I kind of put 1kg of beer kit enhancer in my wilko golden ale  haha i think it's going to be a monster.... If it reaches its specific gravity it will be knocking around 6.5% I hope it turns out ok!

Many people have loved the Better Brew IPA, I bought it on the strength of the reviews here. Mine just hasn't come out very well, very little carbonation, very pronounced homebrew tang and little hop character. I have to force carb it every time I want a pint because it just glugs air otherwise. It's a waste of c02.

I'm going for an English style IPA, but with American quantities of hops. I've got a Challenger Hop tea and and Goldings hop tea to go in when making up the kit and another goldings bag for dry-hopping. The kit already has a nice lemony/floral hop taste but these additions should hopefully kick it into overdrive.

The single can kits are pretty wishy washy unless short brewed but their 2 can Golden Ale kit is excellent. They also do Real Ale and Bitter 2 can kits but I've not dried them.

I shall be pimping a Golden Ale kit a little later today. I'll post more detail once it's done, since they never go quite according to plan.
Probably going to involve a little micro-BIAB of maris otter with a sprinkling of chinook, citra and/or apollo (19.5% alpha acids!! I'll go easy on that for bittering).
