I drive for a living so 6 points on my licence would be one offence from losing my job, if someone calls and hangs up its only going to be a few minutes before you can pull over and call them back why risk it.

Totally! Not worth it for your own troubles or for the lives you could impact if distracted.
I was at a wedding at the weekend, I had a pint at 2pm and the rest of the day just drank water as I was driving, the amount of people that thought I should have at least one more drink, was quite annoying.
I have no interest in getting a fine, or in it being the cause of an accident.

Spot on, if you can afford to have several pints have a couple less and use the money to get a taxi home.
