I've just noticed that my cider has a thin white film on the surface.
You can just see it in this photo.

The cider smells --- well cidery if you know what I mean.
I haven't sampled it because I don't want to disturb it.

Is it MLF?

More than likely mlf, you will need to taste to confirm, as it could also be acetobacter ie vinegar. If it tastes of farmyards then its mlf if it tastes of vinegar then you have 5gallons of vinegar. :D

Well we've sampled it....

It's dry but does not taste like vinegar, the wife thinks it tastes like thin scrumpy.
So do I just leave it be now?
It's in my living room (at around 20c).

What is Milf?
Mother I'd Like to f**k

But if you meant MLF it means Malolactic Fermentation. It is a process whereby malic acid is converted to lactic acid. Giving the brew a less harsh and often a buttery taste. The process is done by adding lactic acid bacteria which convert the malic acid into lactic acid. MLF is commonly done in cider and wine.
