Anyone got a tried and tested good strong milk stout recipe please
I know there lots out there already
But tried and tested by a fellow ag Brewer would be great

Left Hand Milk Stout. I did a slightly tweaked clone of this, adding cacao nibs and altering the grain bill slightly for what I had on hand, but it's an absolute belter. Mine came out about 6.3%, and it's still improving after about a year in the bottle. I think I used the clone recipe from Homebrewtalk.

Let me know how that goes Doc, it's on my list. Texas Ranger has turned out to be belter, albeit much lower abv than anticipated.

would this be suitable for a person new to AG or are there 'easier' or simpler recipes to follow for a first time ?

Anyone tried the Greg Hughes one? I've not had a stout for ages, the last one was Eden Mill's Dark Side of the Coo 2 years ago, but quite fancy having a go at this!

There aren't any advanced techniques involved, it just uses several different grains. I'd probably do a bitter or pale ale for my first all grain, but it really isn't more difficult to do a complex grain bill.

I want to do this as well but struggling to find out how to make the caramel as i guess you should not add butter. Will probably use the Guinness base with Lactose. Let us know how you get on.

I was thinking tinned caramel ? Would it work ?? Lol

I have just done the greg hughes milk stout that mick was asking about which i think turned out really well and in my opinion is a tasty stout but it is the first time i have brewed a stout so may just be glad to get a good drinkable beer.....if you want to try it mick you can drop round and pick up a bottle from me at my workshop in dundee cheers lagerlad

I don't think so but i could be wrong. Its probably made from condensed milk which i would think has too much fat content. This is only a guess though.
I think you could make it with sugar and water, maybe a dash of balsamic vinegar? In that article they said it was intentionally burned it so i guess cooked on a high heat. You can get Cornish sea salt on ebay. I might try just doing 5liters in secondary first in case its undrinkable. :)
