Medusa hops

Stumbled across this hop of a link one of our members provided to a hop supplier in Slovenia. They seemed ridiculously expensive, unless I misread something. Anyway. Does anyone know anything about them or has anyone used them? I think they're a Yakima Valley hop.

I do buy quite a lot of hops from that online shop, but never the Medusa and therefore had never noticed the price! Is it available elsewhere considerably cheaper?

Some of their prices are quite high, e.g. Galaxy is €13.26 for 100g.

Comparing to my other local homebrew shop for example. Prices are per 100g. More expensive highlighted in red.

Very scientific, from a sample size of five, but it looks to be a bit swings and roundabouts. HopSi does have a wide range of novel varieties, such as the NZ experimental types, as well as a large number of Styrian cultivars.

Edit: I don't want this to get into a whole market survey of where the cheapest hops can be purchased, and I don't have a dog in the fight so to speak, but based on @Gerryjo 's comment below, I've updated the table above for the five reasonably randomly chosen varieties with @Get_Er_Brewed prices. I've used xe.com to convert GBP to EUR. Generally the @Get_Er_Brewed prices are really competitive. Only Willamette is not cheapest from the examples chosen. However, for me personally, €14.00 delivery versus €7.55 with HopSi (or free if I buy €60 or more of hops, yeast or malt) kills it. However, I understand that's just part of the fact that HopSi is much closer geographically to me than @Get_Er_Brewed.

There's a Brulosophy ' Hop Chronicle ' beer made with Medusa. They're an extremely dank Neomexicanus hop, apparently.

Medusa is interesting from a hop geek POV as I think it was one of, if not the first "improved" neomex variety to become available commercially. It was one of those things that there was lots of interest a couple of years ago on HBT when it first came out but has now rather faded into the background - some people still use it but for most it seems to have been a "try it once" thing. Search HBT for their experiences - it seems to vary quite a bit with harvest, 2018 was more dank, 2019 more stone fruit.

Being a CLS proprietary variety that's not much grown, it's always expensive - it's 35% more than Citra at YVH for instance.
