Mash tun

In the throws of building my own mash tun from a coolbox and making a copper strainer for the bottom and will be getting the drill out to make a few holes - whats the optimum size?

you do not want any holes at all you need little slots

Yep. Get the hacksaw out and cut slots up to halfway through the bottom of the pipe. Drill holes in the hop strainer of the boiler.

Whichever one you already got, or if you have both whatever is easiest to use.

I've done both, and had good results with both designs. For holes I drilled 8/32 and for slots I cut 45 degree angle slots in the manifold.
