Thought i'd share these images with you guys and see what you think?

The mash tun was a diy project creating a filter out of one of those flexible bathroom sink hoses. Idea from an American guy ont tinterweb.

Would be happy to get your views!

They look nice and smart ricky :thumb:
Has the tun got any form of insulation?? If not, you will need to add some to ensure you maintain a good mash temperature.

ATB

Was just planning on wrapping in blankets, will that work or do I need some shiny insulating material to wrap around the outside?

you may find you will need a bit more insulation than that we used to use a 25 litre bucket to mash with and it was wrapped in bubble wrap and blankets and quilts and it still lost 9 degrees over 90 mins

To insulate that properly, you need a hot water cylinder jacket covering the sides, top and bottom like this...

Even then you may need a sleeping bag over the top when mashing. With this method, I lose 0.1-0.2ºc on a 90 min mash

He probably nicked the idea from us :D . Camping roll mats are fairly good for insulating and may be more resiliant to cutting and stretching than foil backed polystyrene, that and a sleeping bag/cylinder jacket during the mash, used to work for me before I bought a s/steel one.

Thanks for the advice guys and the camping mat idea might be best for me as I live on an island near Singapore, and resources are limited but I will be able to pick up a decent camping mat fairly easily. I also plan on wrapping it in blankets to prevent the heat loss also.
