Anyone ever mashed on night then boiled the next?

It's just I don't quite have enough spare time in evenings for a full brew.
Suppose the next question would be how long can you keep the wort for? And how do you keep it, hot, cold etc? :hmm:

i got a cool box supposed to keep stuff cold for 5 days I will check it out tonight with the brew i just got mashing will just have enough time to boil when i dropthe kids off to school and then boil should be over when i pick up the youngest (9-11:20) so can let it cool naturally till i get home then do a force cool
will let you know how it goes tommorow .

Yes quite a few of us have done a "split-brewday" get the wort in the boiler ready to boil on the evening and boil it up the next day. I've gotten away with leaving it 24hrs between the two.

Stick a lid on your boiler and bear in mind it will take longer to come up to the boil as it's from ambient temp.

Thanks.

Wez, do you bring the wort up to the boil before leaving it, or is just straight out of mash tun the cool in the boiler?

No just sparge, top up to your preboil volume if you need to, pop a lid on the boiler and leave it.

Boiling it drives off any nasties the next day, no need to do it on the night before :thumb:

Could be two firsts in one week for me.
Just put 50g of hops in the brew for dry hopping.

25. A five gal brew.
Thinking of giving it about 2 days then fine and bottle.
The brew is only 3.5%.

Open to suggestions  :hmm:

You might want to sanitise your boiler if you're going to leave the wort sitting in it overnight.
I've done it before without sanitising and got some spontaneous fermentation going, that was when it was warm (25 or so) in the room it was left in.

ok my cooler was at 45C this morning at 9am finished it about 12pm last night
so it droped 30c overnight and was ok not too long to boil over the normal time it takes an extra 30 minsto get to boil . Its a Murphys stout copy from clone beers book and go it 1.041 for 5 gals so well hapy as its the best I ever got a beer to recipie sg.
just waiting till its at temp to pitch yeast now.
now to get the order in for more grain for next brew.
