There's some 5mm sheet on e-bay (there was last night) that would make cracking element seals. I think Tony might have linked that site before, but I'm not looking for it

Vossy stop linking sites . . . Just spent too much on that one . . . again . . . . The silicone tube will make a great very soft o ring seal for the lid on my conical . . . standard silicone O ring materiel is too hard, and the HDPE of the conical is too soft and deforms. . . . May be back to brewing soon

Young padawan there are means and ways if you search the force
Have you thought about C (or U depending how you look at it) section silicone extrusion...perfick for the open edge of the HDPE conical, then compressing the lid onto it.
I've even managed to do it on the 40ltr conicals which are domed at the top using some very swanky custom sloped washers

Why o Why are you both panicking about sealing the Lid of your conicals, the lids that come as standard are perfect for the job of fermenting?

I have yet to have a bad batch in mine (probably put a Hex on now) & I have done over 15 brews in it so far, & have no plans for modding the lid or making the seal better :? :ugeek:

I wasn't aware anyone was panicking :hmm:
They are far from perfect UP, anything that can't be dismantled/cleaned/sanitised properly is asking for trouble, and besides, you're assuming I replaced mine from that perspective...I just want to be able to see into the conical during ferment, not easy through a black lid  pulls tongue emoticon
