Making wine from grapes?

I've read a few recipes for making wine from grapes/fruit, but what I don't understand is the quantity of fruit needed. One recipe says I need 1KG of grapes per gallon of wine and another says I need 16KG of grapes per gallon. Is there a chart or anything I can follow, if so can someone link me to it please? Thanks :)

1 kilo of fully ripe grapes will make a bottle of 'pure' wine so the most you will need is 5 kilos per gallon.
