I had a go at this - well, my own version of it - yesterday. the idea was simply to add in a 'cup' of the spent mash from my last brew (a stout).
The first attempt was an utter failure - too much liquid.
Next attempt was better. The basic changes to the standard 2lb 'granary loaf' recipe supplied with the machine was to reduce the water by half a cup, reduce salt by half, and replace one of the 4 cups of granary malted flour with a cup of strong white bread flour.
The result from that rose really well and it's lovely
