The `cap' sorry for want of a better word of my keg says that I should lubricate the seal before use.

Clearly I don't want to use an oil that will taint any beer I put in it, so what oils can I use? I was thinking olive oil maybe?

Thanks

Vaseline I believe is the lubricant of choice.

Indeed it is however petroleum jelly is the same thing and cheaper (Vaseline is a brand). I know Tesco don't have them both in the same place though. The petroleum jelly is down the babies/children's healthcare isle for some reason

I thought I was being daft wanting to ask what to lubricate with, but it seems like it should be a FAQ
