There may be a very simple explanation here however as a new brewer I am confused about the different sizes of cans that liquid malt extract comes in.

The ones supplied by brupak come in 1.5kg tins and are for brewing approximately 20 pints of beer. Coopers are 1.7kg and are for 40 pints and Muntons provide 1.8kg tins and I haven't been able to confirm how much that makes.

Is it the concentration levels?

Thanks

Coopers expect you to add another kilo of fermentables to the mix for 40 pints.

The Brupaks ones are all malt and you add nothing to them to make 20 pints. They are sized for the brubox brew length rather than the more usual 22.5L / 40 pints of the other kits on the market.

Muntons cheaper kits are 1.8Kg and you add another kilo to make 40 pints

Muntons Connoisseur kits are 3Kg (2 by 1.5Kg) and you add nothing to make 40 pints . . . In fact the same applies to the rest of the 3Kg kits as well.
