Line Cleaning

Hi All,

i have a bar set up at home and currently have a couple of corny kegs ready to go.

i Attached them up last night with about 14 ft of line, co2 cylinder etc etc and poured a great looking pint.The only problem is, it was just run as a tester as i bought the two pumps on ebay (stella, carlsberg) and i do not yet have the lines cleaned.

what would be the best way to do this? So far for sterilising and cleaning i have used milton (the stuff for cleaning babies bottles) and it seems to do a good job. Would it be a case of diluting the milton in a keg and sending it through my line and beer taps?

or is there another way?

P.S cant believe carbonating, kegging and dispensing at the pump has worked for me first time

You could do that, you'd need to leave the solution in the lines for at least 30 mins. You might also want to wash it out with boiled water afterwards.

Using videne or another no rinse cleaner might be easier. I'd make it part of your corny sterilising routine.

I'm sure Aleman did a brilliant post on how to sterilise a corny a while ago, but my search-fu obviously isn't strong enough, I can't find it now.

I'd really recommend getting some proper beer line cleaner.
You can get hold of it no problem from our favourite auction site or from a friendly landlord.

Mix up the solution as per instructions.
Pull the solution through the lines.....leave to stand for 30 mins and then flush thoroughly with water.
Some cleaners have a dye in them so you can tell when the lines are properly flushed.
