Licorice in beer?

Iv got a few ideas for future brews :wha: & one of them is a dark ale with licorice :idea: something like the badgers beer whos name escapes me at the moment (senior moment & at 46 :? ) how do I use this in homebrewing? do I need to resist my favorite Licorice allsorts :pray:

if i was to use it for adding flavour to wine then i would go for the sticks or roots, rather than the confectionary. You will be able to find sticks and roots in health food shops amongst other places.

IIRC Dave line has a recipe for a licorice stout in TBBOB :hmm:

Ok from The big book of brewing by Dave Line
He uses a six inch stick of hard liquorice chopped small and added to the boiler in a 4 gallon batch of stout with an sg of 1.046.
Not sure that's of much help :wha:
