My beer keg seems to be leaking from the seal between the keg and the tap could this be because I have closed the lid to tight and there is to much pressure in it or is it just that the seal is faulty and I need a new one? Thanks in advance.

Over tightening the tap thread can buckle the seal and cause a leak.
You could try and slowly allow some pressure to escape through the lid, good luck

Unlikely due to the lid or excess pressure. More likely due to the seal around the tap (stating the obvious). Depending on how long your brew has been in the keg I'd open it up and re-tighten the tap using vaseline to lubricate the seal.

Best of luck.

Do what you can for now but once its empty take it all apart check all your seals, replace where needed and lube them all and tighten nicely back on then fill it with water and blast some co2 in there to check the pressure. You can also put soapy water on the seals to check for leaks, any leaks with show themselves with bubbles. Good luck hope it doesnt spoil your beer

I get this with virtually every brew... a very slow leak, almost seapage that usually starts about 4/5 days into carbonation when the keg is still in the warmth. I just keep an eye on it until it's time to put it in the cool, let it cool down then draw off a pint. They are usually fine after that. You may also find that the keg's bottom bulges slightly, so it rocks when you push it. I think these two things are actually helpful because it tells you that the beer is carbonating ok.
cheers

My barrel is a King Keg with top tap so I never had a problem with leaking. However, I suggested on a similar thread sometime ago it maybe an idea to use the plumbing PTFE tape on the thread. Never seen any reply to that - anyone tried this or is there some reason for not using it (surely there are some plumbers amongst us)?
