I have just been offered the opportunity to run an evening class in "Homebrewing for Beginners" at my local community school over the winter - I even get paid for it :thumb: :thumb:

I've thought about this as an activity for a while as Homebrewers are thin on the ground in this part of the country. I happened to bump into the local evening class coordinator in the village the other day and pitched my idea to her. Glad I did, she has agreed so now planning my sessions.

On another topic - my son had a house warming gathering last Saturday and I took along a crate of my Parched Polecat and 18 small bottles of of my Lowicz flavoured Blackcurrent Cider which came out eventually at 7.3% hence the small bottles. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it was received considering this is the first time I have gone "Public" with my HB, many folk came up to engage in discussions which of course put me in my element - talking about home brewing - who could resist!!

Doing something you enjoy, and getting paid for it, well that's a bonus

Good stuff mate.

I've been debating doing something similar, everyone I speak to says "they'd love to do it but they're scared to cock it up".

That's fantastic :thumb: All the best of luck! Lowicz blackcurrant cider is the most popular thing I've made yet too, people are always pleasantly surprised to know it's homemade.

I hope to get some friends into brewing by doing a class for them soon, it's be excellent to be able to make money off it :) not off my friends though... I'm not sure what the local art centre would think of such a thing, I should investigate!

Thanks all for your kind comments. I can but encourage you to go speak to your evening class co-ordinator in your local area. You never know your luck.

Maybe once we gather some experience of doing this we could get together and put a training pack together for others on the forum who might be interested in doing something similar in the future.

Your son's housewarming would be a perfect opportunity to spread the word about your class. Try a taster, and if you want to learn how to make this and many other tasty alcoholic beverages, come to my class!!!!
