I'm soon making a Bohemian Pilsner, Mr Malty recommends a 10 Ltr starter with 1 liquid yeast pack.
I plan on stepping it so as to get best viability like this:
Activate smack pack
5 hours later make up 1 Ltr of the wort with 110g DME @ 1.040 OG aereate v well, add yeast and leave 2 days at 11°C
Make up 4L of wort with 440g DME etc, add to starter wort and leave for another 2 days
Make up 5L of wort with 550g DME etc, add to starter wort and leave for another 2 days
Allow the fermentation to go complete cycle, chill, decant the beer and pitch just the yeast.
Shake well every hour (-ish)
Does this sound like a good technique for best results?
