i have found in my brewing store, 2 lager kits,
they are around 12 months out of date,

im considering putting the two together and shortbrewing without any sugar
and maybe adding some steeped hops into the fv,

any other suggstions... :wha:

Boil the hell out of them to force off any volatiles left in there and hop as you wish after guessing how much alpha acid might be left.

Would that work? :hmm:

ah...

...I was just figuring that boiling them would drive off any of the volatiles you get from late addition hops leaving you with a bittered, but un-flavoured malt extract with which you could do with what you please...

That leaves you with any combination of:

- hop tea
- speciality steeped malts
- dry hop
- other whacky additions

you could maybe zingy up the flavour and aroma with a hop tea and go with some spice additions, isn't coriander seed supposed to work well with lagers? Thinking about food... Coriander goes exceptionally well with lime, which also seems to work well with lagers. Maybe some slices of lime rind used like you would a dry hop...?

I lad at work gave me a boots lager kit from his garage as he knew I am in to that sort of thing. It was a decade out of date when he gave it to me and I have had it for at least 12 months.

One day I may give it a go
