Lager, call me a chicken!

I have been brewing all grain beers for nearly 40 years, but gave up on lager a long time ago. Without being big headed my ales and stouts are superb ( everybody tells me). It seems every time I use Hallertauer hops it tastes like cats pee! Also lager yeast gives a sour taste. I am not daft and have adjusted my liquor and not made mistakes, so why??
Call me a chicken but I have stuck to Fuggles and Goldings and Youngs ale yeast for decades with brilliant results. I was thinking of having another go recently, but I bought a bottle of commercial beer made with "Cascade" hops and that was like cats pee too?
Is it my taste buds or am I missing something. ?

I have a mate who thinks all hoppy beers (mine or commercial) taste of cat pee, I guess he (and you) is more sensitive to one of the flavour compounds in the hops

When I say "bought" I meant I was given the bottle of "Cascade" by my son-in-law who had bought two and tipped the first one out after a slurp. So maybe I am not alone?
