Here is a stupid question -

My CO2 Tap and pressure release valves have black deposits on it (on the inside). I cannot seem to clean this with any solvents allowed within the home, so have given up on it. I also had problems with my last 3 brews with a metalic taste and have been thinking it was a problem with the cleaning of the barrels - hot water, cleaning solution, full up to the top for 1 hours then rinsed immediately before use, but i think this maybe the root cause of the bad taste

Has anyone else had the problem with the brass valves? As a long term solution should i chuck the barrel and get a new one, replace the valves or as i am doing at the moment getting the valves made from Stainless Steel (I am doing this anyway to improve my shiney effect kit :D ).
